Work is destroying my social life.

Just thought you should know.
Yes, work is important. Making money is important. But it's seriously cramping my social life!
Last week, I was able to go salt water tubing when i'd explained to my boss that i had made plans prior to work, since they were stringing me along since February.
Fine. That's all really well and good, and it was my first week working.
Same situation this week. Made plans before work started, and found i'll be working that day.
So i can't exactly say the same situation to my boss...and i won't. Was really looking forward to the baseball game with my friends, though.
Now i'll need to find a replacement, or compensate the tickets my friend purchased for me. At this rate, i feel like i'm going to be losing out on alot of activities. Again, yes, work is important...but the time in my life where i've finally come into my own as an adult, socially and otherwise, i lose out.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday- Nobody is going to arrange a meetup in the morning...and certainly not so i can get back in time for work.
Sunday...work two shifts.
Tues/Thurs...who is honestly going to arrange something during the week...people work, after all.
/rant...or whatever.
ETA: I lied. Well, no, not really. My mom is brilliant, and was able to figure out a solution. She must eat lots of fishi
