My father read his horoscope today. When, in 19 years, has he done that…if ever?
‘Watch out’
Who the hell wants to read a horoscope that starts with ‘watch out’?
Events that seem under your control will take an unexpected twist.
My family does not bank our destinies on tarot and horoscopes. It was pure chance that my father opened the local penny saver out of sheer boredom, to the horoscopes. In anycase, my father laughed, unconvincingly, and I rolled my eyes as any teenager would, and went to feed the dogs.
Watch out- events that seem under your control will take an unexpected twist.
The long haul of selling our house was drawing to a close…the end was in reach. The potential buyers wanted in as soon as we got out.
Awhile ago…a few weeks, even, I would have been jumping in glee, eager to move. But then…
I can’t move.
Hours prior to the offer, I expressed my hope for the future for the first time. A future in New York. I was gaining friends in college, finding my footing. I saw a future with recent acquaintances Jose, Sean, and Heather. I saw opportunities for more friends…movies, bowling, dinners, late nights hanging out.
As I sit in SCCC’s Veteran’s Plaza, I feel the sun warming without baking me, the rich green of the grass that doesn’t exist at Phoenix College. I can see puzzle pieces clicking into place in my life.
I guess I am just a puzzle of a thousand pieces. Some are missing, of course. I’m still growing….but you can see the overall picture. That very puzzle took a long time to construct, and is still in progress.
But now…that puzzle needs to be moved.
I can only hope it doesn’t collapse.
